International blog platform
Server infrastructure behind a large readership
We operate the full infrastructure of an international blog platform. The environment described serves approximately 200,000 unique visitors and close to 5 million page views per day. These figures measure different things: one reader may open several pages during a day.
Why is serving a content platform complex?
Opening a page can involve downloading images and other files as well as text. Page views are therefore not the same as server requests or data transferred. In high-traffic environments, processing requirements and network demand need to be considered together.
Operations under changing demand
The platform is supported by a scalable architecture, ongoing maintenance and security monitoring. Operations provide a manageable infrastructure behind the editorial content. The ability to expand capacity needs to be accompanied by regular upkeep: capacity alone does not replace monitoring.
